Is any perennial as faithful and long-lasting as the peony? My mother had a large patch of them and would display a copious bunch in a black glass vase. We would watch in amazement as hordes of ants would emerge from deep in the flowers. These pink beauties bloom in the shade of an ancient apple tree. Here they are in a vintage milk pitcher. A simple white background gives them the prominence they deserve.
