In New Brunswick, these wild roses grow best with benign neglect - in gravelly paths, along dry roadways and fences. They are modest, strong and fragrant - not showy hybrids, just the real thing. In this painting, I wanted to show that pinkness that draws my eye when I see them in the wild and pair them with some other wildflowers.
