This painting allows the orchid a solo performance. The graceful green leaves reach upward toward the delicate blooms; the long graceful stems are extended by the strong gray roots which grow outward for something to cling to. In Florida, after the blooming is over, I tie them to the trunk of a palm with twine. They grab on like a baby chimp to its mother and thrive.
